Numerous Ideas for MS Patients to Remain Cool
Multiple sclerosis –MS- is normally diagnosed in youth, and it is as a disease in which the axons and myelin sheaths of the spinal cord and the brain are severely impaired to the extent that they have trouble communicating together. This happens because thin myelin is unable to quickly deliver nerve transmissions. In spite of the fact that impaired myelin can still rejuvenate over time; it usually becomes thinner than it is supposed be. Heat would only worsen the situation since it just slows the nerves down. Based on where the location of the damage, the results may differ between deteriorating muscles and loss of vision. Thus, it is essential to remain cool if you are affected with MS. Here’s how to do that:
Drink a lot of water. Take a full bottle of water with you in all places you go to, and always drink in order to normalize the temperature of your body. Drink plenty of water (better if cold) and minimize your caffeine intake. The aim is to maintain your cool; yet, iced coffee would be a very bad idea. Caffeine usually causes dehydration, so you should evade taking it unless your doctor allows it. You need a properly hydrated body. Therefore, minimize your intake of anything that may increase dehydration like, for example salt and alcohol. Talk to your doctor and inquire about diet recommendations.
Stay in low temperatures. Consider moving to a cooler area. Cold weather would be beneficial to you. If you would rather not change the place you live, you must stay in a place that is air-conditioned. If you are worried about your electricity bill, try unplugging the appliances that do will not be used for some time, and switch other lights off. Besides, you can turn down your air conditioner when it gets really cold outside.
Wear special clothes and accessories. Put on breathable materials like pure cotton. Putting on a thinner material is good when you are staying at home. There are some obtainable cooling products for MS patients like cooling vests, pillows, and wristbands containing frozen gel packs. There is also a kind of vest that has cooling tubes and lowers the body temperature. Consult your doctor to request the necessary prescription, though.
Get wet. Constantly carry a spritzer to use it when it gets hot. Evian, as an example, produce a cooling mist spray which you can carry wherever you go. Spray it on your face, and all around your neck. It would also be good if you could spray on other areas of your body that undergo steady friction, like the inner area of your thighs and your armpits.
Do some working out. Exercising is very important. You need to remain as healthy as possible. Do so during the coolest time of the day. What’s even better is going to a well-ventilated and air-conditioned gym. Inform your trainer of your health condition so that he can help you in case anything occurs. The best sport for you is swimming. It gives you the workout you want and still keeps you cool.
If you would like to be healthy, you should learn how to take proper care of yourself. These tips will assist you, but maintaining your health is based on the choices you make. Be happy and stay positive. Only then, you will always keep your cool, both literally and emotionally.

These are all good tips for those with MS. I did not realize it was a good idea to carry the water with you. But it does make sense if they overheat to have a way to cool down. Nor did I know that they made special clothes for MS sufferers. I guess since they need to be cool it makes sense.
